Petrus Gonzales

c. 1537 – c. 1618

Born in the Canary Islands with the condition of hypertrichosis (excessive body hair). Taken when an infant to the royal court in Paris as a curiosity. Educated as a nobleman. A bread-bearer for the French king. Married a French woman in 1573. Exhibited along with his hairy children in various European royal courts. The subject of several reports by scholars.
