1842–74

Radical and suffragist. Daughter of Edward John Stanley, second Baron Stanley of Alderley and first Baron Eddisbury of Winnington, and his wife Henrietta Maria Dillon-Lee. Married John Russell, Viscount Amberly, in 1864. Through her acquaintance with John Stuart Mill, became involved with the Langham Place circle of women’s rights activists. Mother of the philosopher Bertrand Russell.
