Karl Friedrich Burdach
1776–1847
German physiologist. Practised medicine, 1799–1811. Professor of anatomy, physiology, and forensic medicine, University of Dorpat, 1811–13; professor of anatomy, Königsberg, 1813. Director of the Königliche Anatomische Anstalt, Königsberg, 1817. Influenced by Naturphilosophie. Made significant contributions to embryology and neuroanatomy.
