William Elliot Marshall

1826–88

Spanish-born army officer, ethnologist, and phrenologist. Served in the Bengal Staff Corps; lieutenant-colonel, 1870; retired as major-general. Non-subscribing member of the Asiatic Society of Bengal from 1873.
