Heinrich Wilhelm Dove
1803–79
German physicist and meteorologist. Extraordinary professor of physics at the University of Königsberg, 1828; professor of physics at the University of Berlin, 1845. Editor of Repertorium der Physik, 1837–49. Director of the Prussian Institute of Meterology from its foundation in 1849. Proposed that warm and cold air currents affected weather conditions in temperate climates.
