William Macarthur
1800–82
Australian horticulturist, viniculturist, and amateur botanist. Son of John Macarthur. Member of the legislative council of New South Wales, 1849–55 and 1864–82. Commissioner for New South Wales to the Paris Exhibition, 1855. Knighted in 1856 and made an officer in the Légion d’honneur.
