William Gourlie

1815–56

Scottish merchant and botanist. Partner in the merchant house William Gourlie & Son, 8 South Frederick Street, Glasgow. Collected mosses, shells, and fossil plants. An active member of the Glasgow Philosophical Society; local secretary in Glasgow for the Botanical Society of Edinburgh. A local secretary for the British Association for the Advancement of Science meeting in Glasgow in 1855.
