George Robins Gliddon

1809–57

English-born archaeologist and ethnologist. US vice-consul at Alexandria for about twenty years. Lectured in Boston, New York, and Philadelphia on Egyptian antiquities. Agent for Honduras interoceanic railway at the time of his death. Author of works on archaeology and ethnology.
