William Cory (1872–1892)

1823–92

Poet and schoolmaster. BA, Cambridge (King’s College), 1845; MA, 1849; fellow, King’s College, Cambridge, 1845–72. Assistant master, Eton, 1845–72. Taught classics and political economy; wrote two books of verse. Changed his surname to Cory in 1872. From 1878 to 1882, lived in Madeira, where he wrote on English history.
