To F. E. Abbot 6 June [1871]1
Down, | Beckenham, Kent.
June 6th.
Dear Sir
We have all been so much interested by the number of the Index, which you were so good as to send me, that I shd. be much obliged if you would send copies to me, for as long as the enclosed dollars will pay for them & postage. As far as I could guess this wd. be for about a year.2
One of my sons procured the dollars from a money changer, & I hope that they are not forgeries.—
I have now read your Lecture delivered in Boston; it seems to me most clearly & vigorously written, & is one of the most striking articles which I have read in my whole life.3
Dear Sir | Yours very faithfully | Ch. Darwin
